A central Kentucky police officer, on his way to a call, was injured in a crash Tuesday morning.
The crash happened late Tuesday morning on Troy Pike, near Delaney Ferry, in Woodford County.
Versailles Police say Officer Kenny Rodgers, 39, lost control of his cruiser, then hit a plank fence and a telephone pole, before crashing into a tree.
"The three worst things you can hit is a plank fence, telephone pole and a tree. He hit all three, he's very lucky," said Officer Daniel Clark with the Versailles Police Department.
Officer Rodgers, a 12-year-veteran, suffered only minor injuries in the crash. He was taken to Bluegrass Community Hospital as a precaution, and has since been released.
His cruiser was heavily damaged.
Police say Rodgers had his lights and sirens on at the time of the crash. We're told he was responding to a domestic violence call at the time.
Police say he will be off duty for the next couple of days while he recovers. Versailles Police will conduct an internal investigation, which is standard procedure in these cases.
