Police say four people were sent to hospitals after a stabbing at a Versailles apartment building. A woman who wanted to remain anonymous says her brother, Michael Howard and her cousin, Raheem Bishop, were two of the victims.
"My brother was stabbed in the hand and it cut a main artery in his hand. The other victim was stabbed three times in the back and punctured his lung," she says.
Police say it all started just before 12:30 this morning in an apartment building on Clifton Road. The fight moved to the back of the building and that's where they say the stabbings happened. The area is right next to another apartment building where lots of children play. Neighbors said violence that close to home concerned them.
"Yeah, it's kind of scary living across from something like that. We already had two things happen like this," says Margo Morales, who lives nearby.
Howard's sister says her brother has been in trouble before and she hopes the incident forces him to change his ways.
"This is a wake-up call. I know this is a wake-up call. It's probably best that this happened so maybe he'll slow down a little bit," she says.
She says whether it was her brother or the others who started the fight, someone needs to be held responsible.
"Whoever started it, you know, needs to be penalized. Whether it was my brother or them," she says.
Versailles Police say they don't believe anyone else was involved and they think this was an isolated incident. Howard and Bishop are in fair condition at UK Hospital. Two other victims were taken to Bluegrass Community Hospital with a stab wound and a head injury. Their conditions are unknown.
