Police believe serial robber struck again

On Tuesday night, a masked man robbed a Subway in Versailles at gunpoint, as customers were giving their orders.

Versailles Police say this is the second time their city has been hit by a masked robber matching this description.

Unlike previous robberies that happened near closing time, Tuesday night's robbery happened at 8:30.

The robber came into the store armed with a silver handgun. He walked around the counter while two customers were waiting in line.

Surveillance video then shows him walking up to the worker at the register, and taking money, before leaving.

The robber wore a Halloween mask and a hoodie to cover his face.

Customers kneeled on the floor during the robbery. They were shaken up, but no one was hurt.

For weeks, a masked robber has been hitting businesses in central Kentucky. The Papa John's in Versailles was also robbed.

Lexington Police released video of the masked robber at a Marco's Pizza on Richmond Road.

The same robber is also suspected of robbing the Supercuts on New Circle Road, the Subway on Main Street, and another Subway in Georgetown.

Versailles Police believe added pressure from Lexington Police may have led the robber to venture outside of Lexington.

Versailles Police now plan to step up patrols until the robber is caught. They say one resource they may use is Lexington's police helicopter.

The helicopter is being made available to area police forces as part of the effort to catch this robber.
