UPDATE: Car accident leads to meth lab discovery

WILLIAMSBURG, Ky. (WYMT)- UPDATE 4/12/14:

Police say they arrested a man in connection with a car crash involving meth on April 9.

Whitley County Sheriff's deputies arrested Thomas Hersey, 40, at a home in Canada Town Friday night.

The Sheriff's department got a warrant for Hersey's arrest following an investigation into Thursday's wreck on Highway 204 near Gibson Lane.

A meth lab and items used to cook meth were found inside the trunk of the wrecked car.

The road was closed for some time while officers cleaned up the lab.

Officials are still looking for another person involved.

A road is closed following a single car accident which led to the discovery of a meth lab.

Officers say Highway 2-4 near Gibson Lane in Williamsburg is closed to all but emergency traffic.

Police went to the scene of a car accident, and then found a meth lab in the trunk of the car. The road will remain closed until the meth lab is safely handled.
