Deputies in Whitley County investigating stabbing

1 pm Update:

Corbin, Ky. (WYMT) - Around 11:30 am Deputy Shawn Jackson located the suspect on Stoney Fork Road.

They arrested Jerry L. Lawson at the residence and recovered a small pocket knife believed to be the weapon used in the stabbing.

Lawson is charged with second-degree assault, and is lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Sunday 10 am Update:

CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) - Whitley County Sheriff Colan Harrell says the victim is 24 year old Adam Hart of Woodbine. We're told he was stabbed four times in the back, and flown to UK hospital.

Sheriff Harrell says the suspect Jerry L. Lawson of the Tidal Wave Community. He is in his mid 40's. They do not have him in custody.

Police are still looking into what led to the incident.

CORBIN, Ky. (WYMT) - We are following a developing story out of Whitley County.

Sheriff Colan Harrell tells us his deputies are on the scene of a stabbing.

We're told it happened just before eleven o'clock Saturday night on Hightop Road, just outside Corbin.

We're told the victim was taken to Baptist Health, Corbin, and will most likely have to be flown to a Lexington hospital.

The identities of the suspect(s) and victim have not been released.

There is no word on whether any arrests have been made yet in the case.
