WHITLEY Co., Ky. (WYMT) - Officers with the Whitley County sheriff's department, constables and state police broke into teams this morning with one priority, to arrest 14 men and women.
Tuesday marked the first county wide roundup in July.
Police say they arrested each person for abusing prescription pills.
Sheriff Colan Harrell says anyone who thinks they can abuse prescription pills may be next.
Harrell says they need to address this problem.
He hopes measures like this one can make a difference.
"They're a nuisance for one thing and other thing it's a habit that's a very expensive addiction," said Harrell.
With the help of a dozen officials including state police, officer Steven Douglas says they are making progress.
"Whenever we do these kind of things it lets the public know that we are out here working and we're aware of these problems," said Douglas.
Harrell says roundups like this one are part of a continuing effort to make a difference.
Eight men and women were taken to the Whitley and Laurel County Detention Center.
Harrell says they will continue searching for the other drug offenders.
