From the street, you can see children's toys scattered around the yard of this home on Oak Grove School Road, in Whitley County. It was here where investigators say a visit by the children's grandfather nearly turned deadly.
"He had made this visit several times on the weekend, without incident," said Sheriff Colan Harrell, adding, "it just went sour quick."
Sheriff Harrell says Henderson Day stopped in to see his grandchildren, but his ex-wife's boyfriend, Carl Wayne Scalf, didn't like it.
"Her boyfriend requested that Mr. Day leave, he walked to his car and got in and as he was leaving the boyfriend shot the car three times," described the Sheriff, "He hit the windshield, the door, and the hood."
However, it didn't end there. As Day was leaving, the Sheriff says Scalf followed him to Corbin, in his vehicle.
"(He) bumped him a couple of times on the left side of the vehicle, attempting to wreck him."
Day wasn't able to go on camera, but did say by phone that he's happy he was able to get to a safe spot and out of harms way.
"It's very excessive. You have him on the run, why do you want to pursue him?" asked Sheriff Harrell, adding, "It concerns me that there wasn't an obvious reason for it."
That's one answer that will have to wait, because Scalf hasn't been seen since the shooting, which only adds to the Sheriff's concern.
Scalf is wanted for attempted murder and two counts of wanton endangerment. The Sheriff's Office asks that if you know where the 47-year-old man might be to call 606-549-6006.
