Police got a call around 9:30 a.m. Wednesday from a woman saying her stepfather was dead and there was blood everywhere. Patrol officers and firefighters then rushed to Wilburn Banks's home on Mt. Sterling Road in Winchester. Neighbors tell us Banks had lived in that home only a few months. Wednesday, their usually quiet neighborhood became packed with patrol cars.
"It's kinda scary because they were parked right in front of my house and they were lined up down the street. And then we came out here and an ambulance and the police cars were in front of that trailer," says neighbor Margaret Holland.
Police have not determined a motive for the murder. They searched nearby dumpsters for a murder weapon, but still haven't found one.
"We're just interviewing potential witnesses, people that may know the victim," says Captain James Hall with Winchester Police.
No suspects have been named and no people of interest named just yet in Wilburn Banks's murder.
