A big honor for two counties in central Kentucky.
America's Promise Alliance included Fayette and Clark Counties in its 2010 list of 100 Best Communities for Young People.
Officials with America's Promise Alliance say they recognized the two counties for "innovative efforts to ensure young people in the Lexington area have all the resources they need to succeed."
Those resources are known as the "Five Promises" of the Alliance, which are caring adults, safe places, a healthy start, an effective education, and opportunities to help others.
Officials say they selected Fayette County for a fourth time because of the county's "undying efforts to provide local youth with positive learning opportunities both during school and after."
Officials say they selected Clark County for the first time because of "dedication to recruiting youth advocates and giving them opportunities to take action."
