Students, parents, and staff met the third candidate for Fayette County superintendent Thursday.
The current Clark County superintendent, Elaine Farris, had a full day of interviews. Farris is no stranger to Fayette County, as she once worked in the school district as elementary director. As an elementary school teacher, a high school teacher, and superintendent, Farris believes her diverse experience will give her an advantage.
"All school districts are different," Farris said. "I think that I have had an opportunity to work with different staffs. With my position at the state level, I had an opportunity to look on the other side of the desk, how the state department supports schools and school districts."
In 2009, Farris was Kentucky's interim commissioner of education.
The other finalists, Jessamine County Superintendent Lu Young and Daviess County Superintendent Tom Shelton, interviewed earlier this week.
The school board plans to meet Friday to discuss all three finalists.
