WINCHESTER, Ky. (WKYT) - Police continue to investigate an overnight homicide at an apartment complex on Winn Avenue.

Police were called to the apartment complex around midnight for reports of a man who wasn't moving. When officials arrived they found a man dead outside the rear of the building. The victim was later identified as Joseph Jones, 54.

Winchester Police say they also found Andrew Williamson, 46, near Jones' body.

"He was trying to put the body in his truck to conceal it," Winchester Police Captain James Hall said.

Captain Hall said Williamson hit Jones over the head with a bat when an argument between the two roommates of just a few weeks turned violent. Early Tuesday morning police charged Williamson with murder and tampering with physical evidence.

"During police questioning he admitted to killing Jones," said Captain Hall.

The victim's brother who asked not to be identified talked to WKYT today. He says while his brother had problems, he didn't deserve to die.

"He had his faults, but he was still a good guy," his brother said. "Our family is just shocked and saddened by this."

Police say Jones' girlfriend also lived in the apartment with the two men. Williamson recently moved to Kentucky from the Northeast.

Williamson has declined WKYT's request for an interview from jail and he will appear in court on the charges later this week.
