Preliminary statistics from state police show 12 people were killed on Kentucky roads over the last week.
Between Monday, February 15, and Sunday, February 21, state police say there were 12 separate deadly crashes in Bell, Carter, Christian, Clark, Fayette, Hopkins, Madison, Marion, McCracken, Ohio, Pulaski, and Warren Counties.
Through Sunday, police say 82 people have been killed in crashes in Kentucky so far in 2010. That's 16 fewer that was reported for the same time period in 2009.
State police say the recent statistics are preliminary, as officials are waiting for all local law enforcement agencies around Kentucky to report crashes and fatalities that may have happened in their areas.
