Police say after speaking with witnesses, including EMS workers, Brittany Williams may have been under the influence of drugs, causing a deadly crash late Monday night.
We are now learning more about the 23 year old woman from West Liberty. Police have told us Brittany Williams is a 7th grade math teacher from Conkwright Middle School.
The Clark County Superintendent tells us while Williams does work at the school, she wasn't there today.
As of 5:30 Wednesday afternoon Williams was still in the hospital in fair condition.
The accident happened on Highway 7 North, two miles from West Liberty, in Morgan County on Monday.
Police say Williams crossed the center line, hitting a Chevrolet Cavalier head-on.
The driver of the Cavalier, Gerry Blackwell, 76, died at the scene.
The Morgan County coroner says Blackwell was returning from her nephew's visitation at the time of the crash.
Blackwell's passenger, Terry Blackwell, 59, suffered serious injuries and was flown to UK Hospital. He was admitted in serious condition, but has since improved to fair condition.
Police say they are still in the process of gathering evidence and when finished, a grand jury will likely decide what charges, if any Williams will face.
