Clark County crash sends 3 children to hospital

CLARK COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) People who live nearby call it a dangerous road. On Wednesday, three children had to be rushed to hospitals after a van crashed on a Clark County road.

Emergency crews say two of the children were thrown from the van when it flipped on Iron Works Road, east of Winchester.

Flashing blue lights and the sound of sirens ripped through the curvy roads of the Pilot View community around 1:00 Wednesday afternoon.

“I was mowing my yard and I saw ambulances, fire trucks, cops go by then I saw a helicopter come over,” said Frank Taulbee, who lives down the street from where the wreck took place.

Emergency officials say a mini van carrying two adults and four children crashed when it went off the opposite the side of the road and flipped over---ejecting two of the children from the van. Both of the children were transported to Kentucky Children’s Hospital; one had to be airlifted.

Another child was also injured and taken to a nearby hospital. Officials say the two adults and the fourth child were not injured.

Folks living on Iron Works Road say that particular stretch of road is especially dangerous.

Frank Taulbee has lived off Iron Works Road for the past four decades and he says in the past few years, there have been several wrecks around the same spot where Wednesday’s took place.

“Its dangerous, especially this curve right here, it’s bad. Slowing down would help,” Taulbee said.

At this point, there's no word on the condition of the children injured in the wreck.

No other vehicles were involved in the wreck. At this time, officials are not releasing the names or ages of anyone involved.
