We're told 22-year old Taylor Gallant was taking part in diving operations off the coast of North Carolina, when he was killed last week.

On Friday, Gallant's friend, Petty Officer Cliff Frazier, along with other naval officers brought Gallant's body home to Winchester.

"I never thought that I'd ever have to escort a teammate home. It's the worst job I'd ever have to do, but its the highest honor," said Petty Officer Frazier.

Clark County Judge Executive Henry Branham is encouraging everyone to fly an American flag in his Gallant's memory. He is also asking that Saturday, after the funeral, people line the streets of the processional route for Gallant's final send off.

Friends and family were lined around the church to pay their respects to Gallant. "it's an extremely terrible loss. It's really hard to explain the pain everyone is feeling," explains Frazier, "it's almost surreal."

Gallant's funeral will be Saturday at First Baptist Church in Winchester. The service starts at 11:00 AM and the processional route will be from Rolan Taylor Funeral Home to the Winchester Cemetery.
