Winchester Police say in one case, undercover detectives bought drugs off 29-year-old Shannon Johnson at the daycare, while children were present.

A central Kentucky daycare is now shut down because of what police say the women in charge were doing at the business.

Police arrested 29-year-old Shannon Johnson, the director of Just Like Home Daycare in Winchester, and the assistant director, Tammy Litteral, for trafficking in drugs.

Investigators say the women were selling drugs in front of the children they were supposed to be caring for.

Winchester Police say there have been complaints of drug activity in and around the daycare for some time, leading to them to investigate the women. They say an undercover officer was able to buy oxycodone pain pills from the women on separate occasions.

Police say there were two separate times that detectives were able to buy drugs from Johnson. They say one buy happened at her home, and the other happened at the daycare, while children were present. "We don't know what her motives are, she's given statements that admitted to the fact that she sold us narcotics" said Capt. James Hall of Winchester Police.

As for the daycare, police have notified the state of the investigation. For the time being, the daycare has been shut down, and police say it will remain that way until the investigation is finished.

When Johnson appeared in court Wednesday, her attorney asked that her bond be reduced. That's when we learned Johnson has five cases pending in court. Court records show Johnson is accused of not paying her employees, and writing bad checks to businesses in town.
