Man arrested going wrong way on interstate

Kentucky State Police say a driver called Thursday morning to report a driver going the wrong way on I-64 in Clark County. Troopers found the black SUV facing east and partially blocking the west bound lanes.

They say the driver, identified as Andrew Gant Jr, drove off when the trooper attempted to have him exit the vehicle. State Police say Gant began traveling against the flow of traffic.

A Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement officer was able to position his vehicle in front of the fleeing vehicle and deployed a tire deflation device, which was successful in flattening some of the vehicle's tires. State Police say the fleeing vehicle almost struck several vehicles during the pursuit in the west bound lanes.

They say the Cadillac crossed the median into the east bound lanes where it struck a vehicle operated by Shelby Marshall and continued on. That's when State Police say Trooper Trotter performed a Pursuit Intervention Technique maneuver, which disabled the fleeing vehicle.

Troopers arrested 21-year-old Gant, who is from Miami, was arrested for speeding, operating a motor vehicle under the influence of drugs/alcohol, failure to wear seat belts, no insurance, wanton endangerment, fleeing or evading police, resisting arrest, leaving the scene of an accident, and improper turning.

Shelby Marshall, 20 years old of Jeffersonville, KY was arrested at 10:12 am EST and charged with Possession of Marijuana and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and lodged in the Clark County Jail.
