Some Kentucky communities announced Monday burn bans that have been place for weeks have now been lifted. Weekend rain helped alleviate the dry conditions that created a fire hazard.
Clark County Fire Chief Ralph Ladson announced Monday he was immediately lifting the burn ban in Clark County. He says the Winchester area received significant rain, since the ban was put in place, and lifting the ban will not impose additional risk on public safety.
The city of Hustonville, in Lincoln County, also lifted its ban. City leaders say they also feel the weekend rainfall was sufficient to put a damper on the dry conditions.
