Police say they're investigating the deaths of a mother and her young daughter as homicides.

Winchester police found both bodies inside a home on Vaught Road on Sunday afternoon.

Investigators have identified the mother as Danel Korrey Stanton, 23. The daughter has been identified as Kaydence Ray Miers. She was 22 months old. Police say both died from stab wounds.

Police say a third person was also injured. They've identified her as Lilly Stanton, the mother and grandmother of the deceased. Lilly Stanton was taken to UK hospital by helicopter for her injuries. Police said Lilly Stanton went into surgery, "she is in serious condition," explains Winchester Chief of Police Kevin Palmer, "she has multiple lacerations on her body."

It's not clear, right now, what led up to the deaths. Investigators have not named a suspect, but say they're not conducting an active search for anyone. They've interviewed several friends and family members of the victims. They tell us they have additional people they want to interview.

The victims' bodies have been taken to the state medical examiner's office in Frankfort. Autopsies will be performed on Monday.
