Harry Connick, Jr. to perform in Richmond

RICHMOND, KY – “We are very pleased to announce the ‘revival’ of An Evening Among Friends,” Reverend James W. Sichko said. “We are thrilled to announce Harry Connick, Jr., and his Jazz Band will be performing two shows on Sunday, March 27, at 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m., at St. Mark Catholic Church.”

“How lucky we are to secure such a vibrant and faith filled talent as Harry Connick, Jr.,” Fr. Jim explained. “I extended the invitation to Mr. Connick personally and, to my amazement, he accepted and therefore, THE SHOW MUST GO ON!” The concerts will be at St. Mark Catholic Church, 608 West Main Street, in Richmond.

Harry Connick, Jr., grew up in New Orleans, and here is where you will find the roots of his love for music and performing. His early talent was shaped by study with such luminaries as James Booker and Ellis Marsalis. He was five years old when he began performing. He appeared on his first jazz recording at age ten, and left New Orleans for the Big Apple at 18. Within a year he released his self-titled major label debut for Columbia Records. His second album, 20, introduced audiences to his magnificent voice, and Harry was on his way. During his illustrious career, Mr. Connick has gained recognition as a talented musician, singer, composer and actor.

Tickets for the 5:00 p.m. show are $75 each and are available through TicketWeb. Tickets for the 7:00 p.m. show are $150, and include valet parking, unlimited food and beverages prior to the concert, as well as an elongated show of 75 minutes. Tickets to the 7:00 p.m. show are available by calling St. Mark Catholic Church, at (859) 623-2989. “As an extra-special treat for 7:00 p.m. show, there will be a limited number of ‘meet and greet’ tickets available at $500 per ticket.” he said. “Twenty-five people will have the opportunity to meet Mr. Connick.”

An Evening Among Friends grew out of concept that St. Mark, as Church, is called to improve the quality of life and to give back what it has received. The mission of St. Mark Church is to foster gospel values through Christian education and to promote the dignity of the person, family and community through worship, service and fellowship. It will be a tremendous evening filled with music and fellowship. “We couldn’t be more pleased to have an artist of Mr. Connick’s caliber gracing St. Mark,” he said.
