Student brings loaded BB gun to Clark Co. school

Clark County school officials sent letters home Tuesday to parents after a student brought a loaded BB gun to George Rogers Clark High School.

According to a letter from Clark County Superintendent Elaine Farris, the student turned over the BB gun after a school resource officer found out about it.

The gun went off after the officer took it to an office to check and make sure it wasn't still loaded. Farris said while the officer was shot in the finger, no students or staff were in any danger.

In the letter sent home Tuesday, Farris also says the school system "has policies in place that promote the safety of students and will continue to follow those procedures to create a safe environment for all students."
