21-year-old Brian Albright says another man forced his hand during an argument late Friday night.
Albright is now charged with assault for stabbing the man outside The Steak House in Winchester.
In an interview from jail, Albright says he was playing pool inside the restaurant when the victim came up to him and said I don't like you.
"He was drunk and I said, 'I don't like you either,'" Albright says.
They were both asked to leave by security. Albright says, when he walked out the door, the man causing the trouble was waiting for him.
"I was hitting him in the back," Albright says.
Albright tells us he was using a knife for force. Seconds later, he realized the blade had swung open.
"I looked down and realized I cut myself. I was thinking, I probably cut him," Albright says.
He say never meant to harm the man, but he was protecting himself. He says the most difficult part of all of this is potentially missing out on his 16-month-old daughter's childhood.
"If I get 5 years here, she'll already be in school. She won't even know who I am."
