A partial list of some of the stores Sears Holdings Company plans to close as part of a downsizing effort is out and three Kentucky stores are on the list.
The first 79 closings, released Thursday, have the K-Mart stores in Winchester and Hazard, as well as Sears in Middlesboro on the list.
Earlier this week officials with the Sears Company announced the plan to close between 100 and 120 Sears and K-Mart stores nationwide. Officials with the company are blaming the closings on weak holiday sales.
More stores could be closed.
