LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) -Today’s primary made history in how it was run for voters and the turnout. Will future elections look more like today’s? Josh Douglas, a U-K Professor who teaches about election law and voting rights, among other subjects, joined me for a live discussion. He’s also the author of a book, “Vote For Us: How to Take Back our Elections and Change the Future of Voting.” Is today’s election in Kentucky a one time deal, or does Douglas see it changing how elections are run in the future here? Critics before today said limiting polling places in each county could make for long lines in the cities and potentially disenfranchise black voters. The Secretary of State’s office said yesterday it had issued over 867,000 mail in ballots, and just over half were returned. Does that make today a success?
