LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - A man has died after a shooting in Lexington.

Police say they responded around 9:20 Tuesday morning to a shots-fired call on Newtown Court.

Officers found a man at the scene who had been shot in the leg.

We’re told police applied tourniquet until an ambulance arrived to take the man to University of Kentucky Hospital. Police didn’t know how serious the man’s injuries were at the time.

The coroner’s office announced Wednesday morning the victim, 40-year-old James Adroiunt White, died shortly after arriving at the hospital Tuesday morning.

No additional information about the shooting has been released, but the coroner’s office has ruled White’s death a homicide.
