Police: Two arrested for trafficking drugs near a school

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - Officials with the Laurel County Sheriff’s Office arrested two people on Thursday for trafficking drugs 1,000 feet near an elementary school.

Kelly L. Gray, 34, and Branden W. Jones, 26, were arrested at a business off Barbourville Road.

Police said calls came in reporting the two as “possibly intoxicated.” When police arrived, they determined the two were under the influence.

The officers found “a large amount of suspected meth, Suboxone, scales, and a glass pipe.”

Gray was charged with the following: trafficking in a controlled substance, trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school, and public intoxication.

Jones was charged with the following: trafficking in a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and trafficking in a controlled substance within 1000 feet of a school.

Gray and Jones were taken to the Laurel County Correctional Center.
