FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Governor Andy Beshear has provided an update on COVID-19 cases.

Governor Beshear reported 723 COVID-19 cases on Monday, which is the lowest daily case total since October 12. The total number of cases is now 389,521.

“This is the type of decrease that we want to see. And we want to keep it going. If we can keep it going, we can look at easing some capacity restrictions, maybe even being able to do a little bit more, but the trajectory is moving in a positive direction,” Gov. Beshear said.

The governor says the state is seeing a 6.57 percent positivity rate. Of Monday’s new cases, 105 are in kids 18 or younger.

There were nine reported COVID-19 related deaths on Monday, bringing the state total to 4,291.

As of Monday, 969 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 related reasons, 268 are in the ICU, and 132 are on ventilators. At least 45,949 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.

On vaccinations, the governor says the state is moving childcare workers up to phase 1b.
