Gov. Beshear reports 1,447 new COVID-19 cases; 43 deaths

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Governor Andy Beshear has provided an update on COVID-19 cases.

Governor Beshear reported 1,447 new COVID-19 cases on Thursday, bringing the state total to 401,750 cases. The governor says the state is seeing a 5.67 percent positivity rate. Of Thursday’s new cases, 192 are in kids 18 or younger.

The governor says data is showing numbers from last week were down because of the weather and fewer people were able to get tested.

There were 43 reported COVID-19 related deaths on Thursday, bringing the state total to 4,570.

As of Thursday, 843 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 related reasons, 220 are in the ICU, and 122 are on ventilators. At least 47,259 Kentuckians have recovered from the virus.

The governor says Kentucky is up to 410 vaccine sites, which is up 119 compared to last week.
