GEORGETOWN, Ky. (WKYT) - A man has died after being shot by police in Georgetown.

Police say it all started with a 911 call around 7:00 Friday morning that said an armed man was trying to break into cars at a gas station on Connector Road. When officers got to the scene, the man fled, leading them to McDonald’s.

Investigators say he then tried to steal a car in the drive-thru, but wasn’t able to. They say he tried another car with two people inside, pointed the gun at them, then turned and pointed at police. That’s when officers shot the suspect. He’s been identified as 31-year-old DeShund Tanner.

Tanner was taken to UK Hospital where he later died. Police say no officers or bystanders were hurt in this entire incident.

A video posted on social media appears to show police running toward McDonald’s. What sounds like several gunshots can also be heard in the video.
