Gov. Beshear reports 285 new COVID-19 cases

FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - Governor Andy Beshear has provided an update on COVID-19 cases.

Governor Beshear reported 285 new COVID-19 cases on Monday, bringing the state total to 452,821 cases. The governor says the state is seeing a 2.78 percent positivity rate. Of Monday’s new cases, 68 are in kids 18 or younger.

There were six reported COVID-19 related deaths on Monday. That brings the state total to 6,662.

As of Monday, 389 people are hospitalized for COVID-19 related reasons, 112 are in the ICU, and 73 are on ventilators.

The governor announced 1,927,168 people have received at least their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine in Kentucky.

“Overall, 54% of all Kentucky adults and 80% of Kentuckians 65 and older now have at least their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine,” said Gov. Beshear. “And for more good news, Kentuckians as young as 12 have started getting their shots of hope.”
