LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - It’s another day with rounds of showers and storms targeting the Bluegrass state. Just like in recent days, a few of the storms may put down torrential rains, causing local high water issues. That said, big changes are in store for the weekend into next week.

Today’s forecast is for more showers and storms as our low presses to our east. The storms will be coming at us from a different direction behind the low, so watch some action coming in from the north and even northeast. Just like in recent days, storms will pack a heavy rain punch and may cause additional high water issues for some.

Saturday looks like a much better day as temps climb deep into the 80s with much more dry weather than what we’ve seen this week. There will still be the risk for a storm or two going up and this storm risk looks to climb on Sunday as a cold front moves in. This is the first of two fronts to impact our weather with the next arriving on the scene by Tuesday. This one has a big time push of pleasant air behind it and there could be another push following that up next weekend.

Highs by the middle of next week will be in the 70s with lows in the 50s.
