LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - We have a few more days of typical summer heat before we change it up in a rather dramatic way. A much cooler than normal pattern starts this weekend and kicks into high gear for the first week of August. This pattern may get some early fall juices flowing.

Temps today are back into the upper 80s to low 90s for many with a few of the hot spots coming in a little above that. Humidity levels make it feel a little hotter.

Thursday is another steamy day as winds gust up ahead of a cold front dropping in here Thursday night. This will fire up a line of strong storms dropping in from the north by the afternoon and evening.

Damaging winds are the primary threat with that line of storms.

Temps come way down behind this for Friday as humidity levels drop from north to south. Highs range from the upper 70s to low 80s, making for a great start to the weekend.

From there, another front drops through and may spawn a few more storms.

That sets the stage for a very cool pattern into the first week of August.
