UK to buy, demolish homes to grow Markey Cancer Center
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The University of Kentucky is planning to buy and demolish dozens of properties on South Limestone.
According to our news partners at the Lexington Herald-Leader, the 50 properties would make room for a massive addition to the Markey Cancer Center.
Most of the properties are student rentals, but there are two owner-occupied homes.
A letter was sent back in April, to purchase the properties.
UK’s executive director for Coldstream Research Park and Real Estate says the extra space was need because of a 20% increase in visits to Markey in the last five years.
