KSP investigating shooting involving officer in Laurel County

LAUREL COUNTY, Ky. (WKYT) - Kentucky State Police released new information about a police shooting in Laurel County.

State police said a trooper shot a man following a chase Tuesday night in Corbin.

According to the release, the driver crashed his car in the parking lot of an apartment complex off the Cumberland Gap Parkway.

The trooper found the man hiding behind one of the buildings. State police said he would not drop his gun and fired at the officer. The trooper returned fire and the suspect was hit.

State police said his injuries are non-life threatening. As standard the trooper is on administrative leave while the shooting is investigated.
