LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - A preliminary storm damage survey by the National Weather Service has determined that at least one tornado caused damage in the Glenmary Reserve neighborhood.

After inspecting the damage, NWS determined the tornado was rated at least an EF-1 with winds of at least 95 mph.

The storm caused severe damage to a number of homes on Providence Dr.

The current results are preliminary and could be adjusted after a more detailed review of the data obtained.

Explaining the extent of the storm’s damage, Mayor Greg Fischer declared a state of emergency on Thursday morning. He also requested state aid from Gov. Andy Beshear.
