LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - On the latest episode of Kentucky Newsmakers, WKYT’s Bill Bryant talks with Governor Andy Beshear and Fayette County Clerk Don Blevins Jr.

Governor Andy Beshear joins us to answer questions about a major jobs announcement in the commonwealth, as well as the just-concluded session of the legislature that saw Republicans enact a slew of legislation that the governor disagreed with.

He voted 25 bills and the legislature dutifully overrode him on virtually every one of them. That includes legislation on abortion, charter schools, guns in courtrooms, and raises for lawmakers themselves.

Kentucky’s primary is now a month away on May 17. There will be some changes and there are some things to know about who can vote in the various races. Fayette County Clerk Don Blevins Jr. raised concerns about early voting but worked out a plan for the primary. Now, the legislature has made some other adjustments that will mean some will vote before the actual primary day gets here. Blevins joins us to discuss.
