Crews respond to early morning fire at Eastern Ky. restaurant
FLOYD COUNTY, Ky. (WYMT) - We are following reports of a fire in the City of Martin.
Fire crews responded to Fat Boy’s Grill and Tavern on KY-1428 Thursday morning around 4:44 a.m.
The road is now open, and the fire was contained.
Lieutenant Brandon Salisbury with the Martin Fire Department said, “When we arrived, we had extensive fire in the back part of the structure, and we had to request mutual aid from Maytown, Garrett and Allen fire departments for water and personnel.”
He also added that the building will be smoking for a few days and people need to use caution.
“It’s going to be smoldering a lot. The building was made of tin, it had a tin roof. So, the tin collapsed in on it so it’s kind of hard to get to the fire underneath or through the tin. We were able to stop it at the patio side from going any further to any other structures.”
The cause of the fire is still unknown and under investigation.
We will continue to update you as we learn more.
