Two dead after Lexington shooting; suspect arrested
LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The second victim in a shooting in Lexington has died.
The shooting happened just before 10 p.m. Thursday night.
Officers say they heard gunfire on Chestnut Street. When they arrived, they found a man and a woman with gunshot wounds.
The male victim, 43-year-old Timonte Harris, died at the scene. Crews rushed the woman, now identified by the coroner as 32-year-old Lakeisha Hill, to the hospital with life-threatening injuries. The coroner says Hill died on Saturday.
Lexington police have made an arrest in the case. Corry Jackson is facing charges of murder, first-degree assault, and possessing a handgun as a felon. Police announced the arrest around 7:30 a.m. Friday morning.
Police are working to determine what led up to the shooting.
The homicides will likely be deemed the third and fourth of the year so far in Lexington. At this point in 2022, there had been 10 homicides.
