Lyndsey Gough

Lyndsey Gough

Lyndsey Gough is an award-winning journalist and western Kentucky native. She returns to the bluegrass after spending nearly four years in Savannah, Georgia at WKYT’s sister station, WTOC.

At WTOC, Lyndsey became the first female Sports Director in the Savannah market. While there, she covered sports all around south Georgia and the South Carolina Lowcountry, including The Masters, Georgia’s National Championship run, and the stars of the internet: the Savannah Bananas.

Lyndsey said she fell in love with Lexington the first time she visited: as a high schooler on an FFA trip. She’s excited to return to Lexington and join the WKYT Sports Department, covering UK (her alma mater), and sports around the Commonwealth.

After graduating from the University of Kentucky in 2015 with a degree in Broadcast Journalism, Lyndsey began her career at WKYT’s sister station, WBKO in Bowling Green, Kentucky as a Multi-Media Journalist. She was later promoted to weekend producer and anchor, and would pinch-hit for the sports department as needed. From there, Lyndsey became a sports journalist in Louisville, KY. covering sports across the state at all levels as a reporter, producer and anchor at what was Kentucky Sports Television and cnI2, now Spectrum News Kentucky.

While at UK, she held multiple internships including being one of the first interns at ESPN Lexington and one of the first RuppTV hosts. Lyndsey worked for the UK Sports Video department her senior year. She is also an alumna of Alpha Omicron Pi.

She has had the privilege to cover Kentucky Derbies, a Heisman Trophy winner, multiple NCAA Tournament berths, bowl games, state championships, the PGA TOUR, and more in her career so far, and is looking forward to continuing her work. As a journalist who has covered both news and sports, she hopes to bring you the most complete coverage possible.

Lyndsey enjoys watching sports at just about any level and is excited to get to know the people of central Kentucky.

In her spare time, Lyndsey likes spending time with her dog, Scout- the cutest shichon around, binge-watching Netflix (especially documentaries), listening to podcasts, antique shopping, and cheering on her favorite teams.
