WKYT This Morning, Midmorning & Noon

WKYT's Bill Bryant is the longest serving male news anchor in Lexington television history and is the host of "Kentucky Newsmakers" on which he has interviewed virtually every important Kentucky political and business leader of the last quarter century. After more than three decades at the station his energy and enthusiasm are on display every day as he co-anchors "WKYT This Morning" 4:30 to 7 a.m., the "Fox 56 Morning Edition" for our partner station WDKY, "WKYT Midmorning" at 10 a.m. and "WKYT News at Noon".

Between newscasts, Bill is a strong editorial voice in our newsroom, serving as managing editor. He has also previously filled in as acting news director, in charge of our news operation for several months. He loves political reporting and presents a daily "Political Notebook" on our 5:30 p.m. newscast. Bill also serves as our political analyst on election nights and is the host on KET's statewide program "Comment on Kentucky."

Bill traces his journalism roots to the 5th grade when he and some classmates printed up a newspaper and sold it on the streets of his hometown of Williamsburg. Bill got into radio by the time he was 15 and also played basketball, ran track and served as class president.

"I've always said those busy days got me ready for a career in the demanding business of TV news," Bill says.

Bill attended the University of the Cumberlands before earning his degree in broadcasting and political science from Eastern Kentucky University. EKU has honored him by inducting him into the school's "Hall of Distinguished Alumni" and he has been an active supporter of his alma matter. It was after his junior year at Eastern that Bill did an internship at WKYT.

"I was just supposed to be here for the summer and that was 1984," Bill says with a laugh. "The opportunities have been endless for me professionally as I've done newscasts in all time periods, covered major stories and had a hand in management. And I've had a great time working with wonderful people."

When he's not on the air or working behind the scenes, Bill keeps a busy schedule making public appearances, reading up on the political scene and keeping up with family and friends. He is also passionate about physical fitness and works out daily and encourages others to "get in the game and stay in the game" as he puts it.
