FRANKFORT, Ky. (WKYT) - A vacant building on Louisville road used to be Banta Security, and according to 8 pages of detailed court documents, men went there and to Thomas Banta's home on Devane Lane and paid to have sex with women.
The investigation began in February of last year with complaints that Thomas Banta was prostituting women at his office. Banta served as a Franklin co. Constable from 2011 to 2014.
The sexual activity allegedly took place in a back room of the building. Then...about a year later...a 36 year old woman in jail contacted the Commonwealth’s Attorney office claiming to have information on Banta.
In court documents she claims…
"That since the time she was in the 8th grade...and until December 22, 2015, that she had been operating as a prostitute for Banta, who she referred to as 'Boss.'"
That woman claimed that Banta would tell her when and were to go and that she would be paid either by Banta or directly by one of the clients..to perform sexual acts.
Banta lives on Devane Lane were investigators say some of the sexual acts occurred.
Neighbors told WKYT that Banta was kind and giving to them and would offer to help them with whatever they needed. A "For Sale" sign was in the front yard of that home on Devane Lane. Neighbors in the well kept area claim it is a very quiet area where "nothing ever happens."
Court documents reveal numerous items were seized from that home.
Banta was also indicted for kidnapping and impersonating a police officer. Court records claim that Banta and one of his employees…. Hendra "Dre" Chanault Valentine....posed as police and interrogated a 17-year-old for hours after taking him from a Frankfort McDonald's.
The court documents state that witnesses say Banta and Valentine believed the young man had stolen a safe from a client.
Banta is now in custody at the Franklin Co. Jail. He declined WKYT's request for an interview. Valentine has a warrant out for his arrest.
The Commonwealth's Attorney is currently seeking information from other women that may have been victimized. They can call the office in Frankfort at 502-564-4741.
