LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - If you enjoyed Saturday, we have another day of similar weather in store to wrap up your weekend before rain returns.
As you get up and get out on this Sunday, you can expect temperatures in the mid 30s with clear skies. Clear and sunny skies will remain around the Commonwealth throughout the day with a cloud mixed in here and there. These sunny and dry conditions will help highs by this afternoon to reach into the lower 50s, which is well above our average for this time of year. By the evening and overnight, we will start to see some clouds increasing across the region.
Heading back into the work week on Monday, this is when things will be unfortunately changing. The first half of the day won't be too bad with morning lows in the mid to upper 30s and then highs reaching near 60. Once we pass noon and head into the evening hours, we start to track our first front that brings a line of gusty showers into the Commonwealth. These showers will pass through and get into eastern parts of Kentucky by the later evening and night hours.
This front will weaken until another stronger cold front passes through Tuesday, which will push out the rain chances but also bring in much cooler air for the middle part of the work week. Temperatures on Tuesday will reach into the lower 50s, but by Wednesday and Thursday highs will only reach into the mid to upper 30s. Then by the end of the week and into the week, temperatures will rebound slightly, but we will also track another system that brings in rain.
