LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - Get out and enjoy this Sunday, because storm chances and temperatures are increasing this week.
We have another great start to the day on this Sunday with temperatures in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Skies remain mostly clear with a few clouds here and there, but it will remain this way throughout most of the day. Highs by the afternoon will be a bit warming in the mid-80s with some humidity, but this is fairly average for the time of year. Some isolated storms could pop up across west central Kentucky later this afternoon and evening, but I believe most of us will stay dry.
As you head back to work on Monday, expect a more humid day. Morning lows will start out again in the lower 60s, but by the afternoon highs will reach into the mid-80s yet again. We increase the humidity due to a more southerly flow of air coming into the Commonwealth, which could also bring some scattered storm chances in the afternoon and evening.
Rain and thunderstorm chances increase by the middle part of the week as a weak front will pass through our area, but it won't be enough to cool us down for long. Highs by the second half of the work week climb into the upper 80s and possibly even 90 one day. Storm chances briefly seem to decrease on Thursday, but then they are expected to pick back up by next weekend.
