Bath County deputy accused of trying to have sex with minor

OWINGSVILLE, Ky. (WKYT) - A Bath County deputy is facing a child sex crime after a state investigation.

Joshua Preece, 37, was charged with prohibited use an electronic communication system to procure a minor.

Kentucky State Police arrested Preece Thursday at his home in Morehead.

Bath County Sheriff John Snedegar said Preece worked for Kentucky State Police for about ten years before becoming a deputy.

Snedegar said he was shocked and couldn't believe this could happen with one of his deputies, and he is calling for a full investigation.

A judge set Preece's bond at $7,500.
