An 11-year-old boy is dead after he was hit by a falling tree while on a camping trip in the Red River Gorge Saturday night.

The Wolfe County Coroner confirms his name is Jack A. Rose.

According to Wolfe County Search and Rescue, Rose was camping near Chimney Top Creek with his Boy Scout troop from Louisville when a dead tree fell and landed on his tent with him inside of it.

The tree hit Rose in the head, killing him instantly.
