LEXINGTON, Ky. (WKYT) - The Lexington-Fayette County Health Department says lab tests confirmed two cases of mumps in Fayette County.

Mumps are rare, but contagious. Health officials say mumps are spread through coughing and sneezing. Washing your hands frequently also helps.

The measles-mumps-rubella vaccination, also called the MMR shot, is the best form of protection. Most children have received the vaccination.
