MONTICELLO, Ky. (WKYT) - Charges have been dropped against two daycare workers in Southern Kentucky.
A grand jury failed to indict Diana Myers and Tasha Cox. Myers was charged with criminal abuse, which is a felony. Cox was charged with failing to report the abuse.
The charges stemmed from an online video showing Myers waiving a doll in front of a crying toddler at Wendy's Wonderland.
Police said Myers knew the child was afraid of the doll. Her attorney, however, says the child was upset about something else and Myers was trying to redirect the child's attention.
“It took a big toll on me," said Myers. "I’ve worked with kids since I graduated high school. And I have always loved working with children. I have gone to school for it. After all this happened I had a lot of days where I would just cry. Because all of this happened and I knew I didn’t do anything wrong.”
Neither woman is working at the day care anymore, but Myers told WKYT's Phil Pendleton she wants to work with children again. The daycare operator has strongly defended both women and still claims neither did anything wrong.
