Chris Bailey's Forecast | Winter Storm ALERT

By  |

A developing winter storm is set to bring significant amounts of snow and ice to the region Friday into early Saturday.

Heavy rain will be with us tonight and early Friday, but will quickly switch to ice and snow from west to east. That happens as temps drop 30 degrees in just an hour or so.

The timing of the switch is late morning for the Lexington metro and during the afternoon in the east.

Heavy snow will then set up Friday evening, delivering anywhere from 2"-8" of snow. This may fall on top of a tenth of an inch of ice.

Snow showers end on Saturday with bitterly cold temps for the weekend.

Another snow maker moves in by Monday and Tuesday.
