Friends and co-workers gathered at Southland Christian Church on Saturday to show their appreciation for Wedndall Gill.

Gill, 85, has been working at the McDonald's on Richmond Road for the past 40 years.

Two months ago, tragedy struck when his wife suddenly died of aneurysm while she was visiting Wendall for lunch.

Since then, friends have raised money to help Wendell, who now takes care of two adult grandsons with special needs.

The campaign has already raised $64,000 of it's $115,000 goal.

Friends say Wendall's story and the response from the community is receiving a lot of national attention.
