One person is dead after a shooting on Saturday in Richmond.

Madison County Coroner Jimmy Cornelison tells WKYT Stephon Mundy, 34, was found dead with multiple gunshot wounds inside a home on Landon Lane around 3:15 p.m.

Richmond police arrested William Kellogg, 23, and charged him with Mundy's murder Saturday night.

Police say that Kellogg's ex-girlfriend lives in the home. They say Kellogg told them that he went to the house and broke in through the back door, using a golf club to break the glass.

They say he told them he found his ex-girlfriend lying in bed, naked from the waist down, and heard someone in the closet. He then told police that Mundy came out of the closet, trying to fight him.

That is when Kellogg tells police that he shot Mundy three to four times.

Police say they couldn't find Kellogg when they arrived at the scene, but later found him trying to leave the area.

An autopsy on the victim is scheduled for Sunday morning.
